NOWSHERA, Aug 16: District Returning Officer (DRO) Salim Khan Minakhel, who is the district and sessions judge, has barred NWFP Senior Minister Sirajul Haq from entering or holding public meetings in Nowshera district till Aug 18.

Mr Minakhel had issued bailable arrest warrants for the minister after he failed to appear in the court on Monday to answer allegations of interfering in election campaign levelled by some contestants of the local body polls.

He had issued warrants for other leaders of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal and some candidates backed by them on the charge that they were using public funds and government machinery to influence the election.
