SWABI, Aug 16: Khalid Amin Khan, district returning officer (DRO) of Swabi, summoned provincial Education Minister Maulana Fazal Ali on Tuesday on the complaint of some candidates who alleged that the minister was meddling in the election campaign and creating problems for them.

Irshad Ahmad and Aurangzeb are candidates from the Zarobi union council for the posts of nazim and naib-nazim and had filed an application with the DRO, alleging that the minister was violating the code of conduct set by the Election Commission for the candidates contesting the local body election.

The candidates, who belong to the Awami National Party, also informed the provincial election commission about the activities of the minister.

Mr Irshad alleged that the minister had been campaigning publicly and asking people to vote for Asadullah and Usman Ghani of the Jamiat-i-Ulema-i-Islam (Fazal), who belong to the same union council, for the nazim’s seat.
