QUETTA: Balochistan income tax chief commissioner Yousaf Haider Sheikh has said that measures to introduce a new rule in the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) are being taken in order to bring innovations in the tax collection system in the province.

Speaking at an automatic tax system seminar held at the Inland Revenue Office on Friday, he said that the business community was playing a vital role in stabilising the country’s economy. He said the income tax department of Balochistan and FBR were taking measures to protect traders.

“A point of sale invoice system would connect shopkeepers with FBR and they just need to download one app,” he said.

Income tax commissioner Hazoor Laghari termed payment of taxes as a national obligation for all citizens, adding that the tax money was spent on social development.

He said that FBR was earnestly working to address issues of the businessmen community and pledged more relief to tax-payers.

Briefing the seminar on real-time invoice, Additional Commissioner Zone-1 Rehmatullah Khan Durrani said that the invoice system would ensure discount and ease for customers. “Through an invoice app, consumers will deposit their taxes to the national treasure,” he assured.
