Pakistani pair beaten

KARACHI, Aug 13: Pakistan’s Aqeel Khan Asim Shafiq were beaten in the final of the men’s doubles of Iran F1 Fixture Tennis in Tehran. According to the details made available on Saturday Aqeel and Asim lost to Ballaret Benjamin (Monaco) and Morel (France) after a tough fight. They lost 2-6, 5-7.

Earlier, in the semifinal the Pakistani pair defeated Al Ghareeb and Magdas (Kuwait) 6-4, 6-4 in straight sets. Pakistan’s only hope in the men’s single event was shattered when Shehzad Khan was outclassed by Ballaret Benjamin of Monaco in the second round. Shehzad lost 1-6, 4-6.—PPI
