RAWALPINDI: Three people were killed, one of them during a robbery, in separate incidents in the city during the last 24 hours.

Police said Fida Mohammad, a resident of Naseerabad, was shot and killed by armed men in Chamanabad on Saturday night.

Wasil Mohammad told the police that his brother was standing outside his grocery super store when two men pulled up and held him at gunpoint. They tried to loot the store and on resistance shot and injured Fida, he added.Mr Wasil said he reached the store and shifted the injured to District Headquarters Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

He said his brother’s mobile phone and cash from the store were taken away by the robbers.Meanwhile, a woman was murdered at her house in Noornani Mohalla on Saturday night.

Hussain Mohammad complained to the Airport police that he along with his wife and mother lives in a rented house.

He said when he returned home on Saturday night his mother was lying semi-conscious on the floor.

He said his mother was shifted to Holy Family Hospital where she died. He suspected that his mother had been murdered by his wife. When a senior police official was contacted, he said though the woman had been taken into custody, she did not seem involved in the murder.

He said the deceased was mentally ill and had made suicide attempts in the past.

Separately, a 19-year-old man was killed in a traffic accident in the limits of Racecourse police on Sunday.

Mohammad Wajid was going to a hospital for duty on his motorcycle when he was hit and killed by a vehicle on Raja Akram Road.
