FAISALABAD: The district administrations of Faisalabad, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh and Chiniot have been asked to identify the cultural and heritage sites in their respective areas for compilation of a directory.

Talking to reporters on Friday, Faisalabad Commissioner Ishrat Ali said multi-dimensional measures would be taken for the preservation of cultural heritage of Faisalabad division to keep the next generation informed of the culture and lifestyle of the region.

Showing keen interest in and love for heritage, he said that the historical buildings and their architecture, historical personalities, heritage, handicrafts and local archaeology were not only the identity of the region, but also sources of information.

The commissioner said the four district administrations had been tasked with identifying cultural and heritage sites in every nook and cranny in their respective districts and compile a directory. He said that heritage lovers would also be searched for seeking their volunteer services regarding compiling details about the heritage.

He added that special programmes would be launched to highlight the regional heritage for information of the general public and students of history.
