PATNA: A letter, protesting against the proposed acquisition of Phulwarisharif under the Greater Patna Scheme, has been sent to His Excellency the Governor of Bihar by the President of the Bihar Provincial Muslim League.

“There is a strong feeling of resentment, alarm and abhorrence amongst Muslims not only of Bihar, but all over India. The place is sacred to Musalmans of India and any attempt to acquire it, either partially or entirely, will interfere with sacred shrines and other places too sacred to the Muslims. This will be an act of vandalism which will be rightly resented,” says the letter.

“I can assure His Excellency,” it further adds, “that our resentment cannot be exaggerated or minimised by saying that it is a sentimental slogan. It is inherent and deep-rooted, and I say this as the one who knows the feelings of the Muslamans.”

Concluding, the letter requests the Governor of Bihar to intervene in the matter and thus respect the feelings and sentiments of the Musalmans. The President has also forwarded with the letter, the resolutions of the Bihar Provincial Muslim League Council and the Public meeting of the Muslims in Patna district, that were passed on October 22 and November 23 respectively on the subject.
