BATTAGRAM: The police on Monday arrested a former naib qasid of the Government High School, Asharban, Allai tehsil, for locking the main gate and classrooms of the school.

Mohammad Fazeer had blocked the access of teachers and students to the campus to protest the ‘denial’ of job to his son on quota.

Deputy commissioner Syed Mohammad Farul Saqlain told Dawn that he had asked the Allai tehsil assistant commissioner to proceed against Mohammad Fazeer over the illegal act.

“The police took the ex-naib qasid to the police station for legal action,” he said.

The DC said the education department would look into the complaint of the former naib qasid about the denial of job to his son on quota.

The school remained closed in the day due to the incident.

Mohammad Fazeer, who retired in June 2108 and donated land for the school, alleged that the education department had deprived his son of the quota-based job by filling a post on political grounds.

He said the recruitment committee called his son for interview but ‘ignored’ him for the job.

Teacher Gul Raiz said the teachers stayed outside the school until duty hours were over at 01:30pm, while the students were sent back in the morning.

DEO Bakht Zada Khan denied the irregular appointment allegation and said the appointee, a retired employee’s son, was recruited on merit.

He claimed that the former naib qasid had something against the appointee, whose father, too, had donated land for the school.

“We’re informed about the incident very late,” he said, adding that the school will resume classes tomorrow (Tuesday).
