ISLAMABAD: The capital police arrested 39 suspects during its crackdown on criminal elements and recovered narcotics, stolen cars, gold ornaments and weapons from them, said a police spokesman.

He said the Aabpara police arrested three persons and recovered 1.01kg heroin and 290 gram hashish from their possession.

The Secretariat police arrested a man after recovering a 30-bore pistol along with ammunition from him.

Kohsar police detained six people and recovered 210 gram hashish from their possession while Bhara Kahu police nabbed two persons and recovered 135 gram heroin and two bottles of wine from their possession.

A man was held by the Banigala police and a stolen car was recovered from his possession.

Tarnol police arrested a man and recovered a 30-bore pistol while Ramna police rounded up a suspect and recovered stolen gold ornaments and other valuables from him.

Shahzad Town police arrested a man and recovered a 12-bore gun from him while Khanna police detained a man and recovered a 30-bore pistol from him.

Four persons were also arrested for selling petrol illegally.
