KARACHI, Aug 12: The Sindh High Court allowed a petition against a nazim-naib nazim panel contesting election from union council one, Mehrabpur, district of Naushero Feroze.

Petitioner Abdul Latif, who is an Awam Dost candidate for the UC nazim’s office, submitted through Advocate Mohammad Nawaz Shaikh that Umar Din Kamboh, who is vying for naib nazim’s office, had produced a bogus matriculation certificate. His nomination papers should have been rejected along with those of Nisar Ahmed Memon, who heads the panel.

A division bench, comprising Chief Justice Sabihuddin Ahmed and Justice Mohammad Afzal Soomro, directed the Hyderabad education board to look into the authenticity of the certificate produced by Mr Kamboh and submit the relevant record. A board assistant controller stated that the certificate produced by the candidate was fake.

Allowing the petition, the bench asked the returning officer not to allocate an election symbol to the candidate.
