GWADAR: Nine people, including eight security personnel, were killed and 29 others injured when a passenger coach fell into a roadside ditch on the Makran Coastal Highway near the Buzi Pass area on Tuesday.

The passenger coach carrying the personnel and their family members was going from Ormara to Karachi.

Official sources said that the driver lost control over the vehicle after its brakes failed.

The coach skidded off from the road and fell into the deep ditch, said Assistant Commissioner of Bela Jameel Ahmed Baloch.

He said a child was among the dead and the injured included women and children. All the nine people suffered multiple injuries and died on the spot.

Soon after receiving information about the accident, officials belonging to different security agencies rushed to the area and took the bodies and the injured to a hospital in Ormara.

The condition of at least four injured is stated to be serious.

The sources said the victims were going to Karachi on holiday.
