KARACHI: A model court on Saturday sentenced a convict to life in prison for killing a security guard over a petty dispute in 2014.

Zaheer Abbas was found guilty of murdering Mohammad Taqi in PECHS within the remit of the Tipu Sultan police station.

The additional district and sessions’ judge, Kamran Atta Soomro, of the model criminal trial court (South) pronounced the verdict.

The judge observed that the prosecution successfully proved the allegations against the accused. The judge imposed a fine of Rs500,000 on the convict.

According to the prosecution, the accused engaged in an altercation with the victim, who was posted as a security guard at a bungalow in PECHS. He fired a shot at the victim, who succumbed to his wounds, following heated arguments.
