FAISALABAD: The Civil Lines police registered a case against a lady lawyer and her relative for torturing a lady doctor of the DHQ hospital on Thursday night.

The staff of the hospital’s gynaecology ward went on strike and demanded strict action against the suspects.

Dr Sohnia Ijaz said in an application that she was performing her duty at the ward and checked Tahira Ikhlaq. However, her attendants asked her to properly examine the woman and Shagufta Tanveer, a lawyer, even dragged her by clutching her hair. She said Ikhlaq, the husband of the patient, also thrashed the hospital staff which created panic.

The Young Doctors Association (YDA) said the strike at the hospital had been called off following registration of the case. However, they would again go on strike if police did not arrest the suspects.

Doctors said the woman was a lawyer but police had not mentioned it in the FIR.
