PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Mahmood Khan has directed to fix separate rates for each variety of flour, pulses and other varied items in order to make the price control mechanism more efficient. He said that the relevant committees should be bound to ensure implementation of rates fixed by the government.

He issued the directives while chairing a meeting to review the price control mechanism in the province and look into the causes behind the price hike of food items.

Mahmood Khan directed to ensure implementation of the fixed rates for goods/food items and made it clear that all deputy commissioners should regularly convene meetings of the price control committees.

The CM also principally agreed with the proposal of expanding Agriculture Market Act and the market committee to all

the major districts and said the move would benefit both the agriculture sector and the public at large.

The meeting was also attended by principal secretary to chief minister, Shahab Ali Shah, administrative secretaries of the relevant departments, and other officials.

The meeting was informed about actions taken against hoardings, adulteration, black marketing, and to enforce the price control mechanism in letter and spirit.
