Sri Lankans confirm participation

KARACHIi, Aug 9: Sri Lanka has confirmed participation In South Asian Yachting Regatta (SAYR) to commence on Sep 9 at Marina Club Karachi, a top official of Pakistan Sailing Federation (PSF) said on Tuesday.

Secretary PSF, Captain (Retd) Syed Waqar Hasan said that India would confirm its participation in the event within a couple of days as their arrangements were yet to be finalised.

Pakistan, winners of SAYR 2004, will defend their title.

Waqar said that Pakistani sailors had already started preparations to defend their title and added that a training camp had been set up at the National Sailing Centre.

He said that six of the sailors scheduled to take part in the tournament were yet to join the camp, as they were busy in the ongoing International Sailing Regatta in Istanbul, Turkey.—PPI
