KARAK: Deputy Commissioner Shah Rukh Ali Khan has said that problems of all remote areas of the district would be resolved on priority.

Addressing an open kutcheri at the far-off area of Kurd Sharif here the other day, he directed the communication and works department to prepare feasibility report of a road to link Kurd Sharif with the district headquarters through Alikhel area. Heads of line departments were also present on the occasion.

Earlier, Abid Noor and other local elders informed the deputy commissioner about the problems being faced by the local people because of negligence of elected representatives and other authorities. They complained about scarcity of drinking water and lack of education and health facilities.

The deputy commissioner asked the Public Health Engineering Department to prepare feasibility for supply of drinking water to the area from the nearby natural springs.

He also sought a report for upgradation of government boys’ middle school to high level and directed the DEO to ensure provision of staff in primary schools. He asked the district health officer to prepare a report to upgrade the local dispensary.

ARRESTED: Police claimed to have arrested two fraudsters posing as members of an organisation involved in a survey for ration cards and recovered Rs4,050 cash from them which they had allegedly collected from the people.

According to a statement, Sabirabad police traced two fraudsters, identified as Mohammad Bilal of Tappi and Said Gul of Badinkhel, who were allegedly busy in filling the ration card forms for the people on cash payment in Badinkhel area of Karak.

On a tip-off, the police arrested them on the spot and recovered eight CNICs, Nadra tokens, forms and Rs4,050 cash from their possession. They registered an FIR and have started investigations.

WATER SHORTAGE: The elders of Drab Kallay, Mechar Banda and other adjacent localities on Thursday complained about acute shortage of drinking water, saying that the Public Health Engineering Department failed to provide the people with drinking water.

They were speaking at a meeting held here at Drab Kallay with a social worker Zahid Khattak in chair.

The participants said that two water supply schemes in the area were lying faulty. They claimed that the people of these localities were fetching drinking water from a private tube well on payment.
