KARACHI: Defending champions Pakistan Navy have seized seven gold medals to dominate the 33rd National Games sailing event in the open sea nexr Oyster Rocks, Clifton Beach, on Wednesday.

According to the Pakistan Sailing Federation the water-oriented naval sailors have ruled in the sea capturing seven of the nine golds that are at stake and are expected to retain their title. In addition to seven golds, Navy has also won one silver.

They are followed by the PAF with one gold, three silver and equal number of bronze. By winning the gold in 4.7 class, the airmen denided Navy a clean sweep

The sailors of Navy have achieved their success in Optimist boys and girls, 470 class, Laser Standard, RSX Windsurfing, Enterprise and Match Racing. Their only silver came in 4.7 class.

The Team Racing event is in progress and concludes on Thursday.

Navy’s team comprising five sailors clinched gold in the Match Racing by getting the better of Army in the final. The PAF had to be content with bronze. The Navy team consists of CPO/PTI Najeebullah Khan, CPO/PTI Qasim Abbas, CPO/PTI Khalid Hussain, PO/PTI Rehmanullah and PO/PTI Tariq Ali.

Results:

Laser Standard class: 1-Najeebullah Khan (Navy) 2-Allah Ditta (Army), 3-Ather Sultan (PAF).

RXS class (winssurfing): 1-Qasim Abbas (Navy), 2-Irfan (PAF), 3-Abdul Sami (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa).

Enterprise class: 1-M. A. Tariq and Riaz Khan (Navy), 2- Rahim Dad and Kashif Saeed (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa), 3- Ayub Anjum and Asim Khan (Army).

470 class sailing boat: 1-Rehmanullah and Khadim Hussain (Navy), 2-Abdul Hameed and Mehboob Zakir (Sindh), 3-Naveed Ahmed and Ali Hamza (PAF).

Match Racing:. 1-Navy, 2-Army, 3-PAF.
