ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) conducted trials to select women’s U-18 team for the Rawalpindi region here at the Pindi Cricket Stadium.

The trials were supervised by former Test cricketer Marina Iqbal, PCB official Rabeel Qureshi and coach Wasim Yousufi.

Speaking to Dawn, Rabeel said that over 80 girls participated in the trials held on Monday, which is good sign as girls are taking keen interest in cricket. She said that after few days, the Rawalpindi region team will be announced.

Rabeel said the trials are taking place in various cities of the country to select the national U-18 women’s team.

“Once the trials process is complete in regions, four teams will be formed and then the best players will be given training at the National Cricket Academy,” she said and added that in 2021 the International Cricket Council is going to organise the U-19 Women’s World Cup for which preparations are underway.
