KARACHI: Two Pakistani representatives have been elected to the executive committee of the World English Scrabble Players Association; the regulatory body of scrabble worldwide.

Tariq Pervez, who has already served as the chairman of the promotions sub-committee in the past, is now elected to the main committee as an executive member while Waseem Khatri is the new addition from Pakistan.

The elections took place in the biennial general meeting held in Goa, India recently. Chris Lipe of the US is the new chairman, replacing UK’s Elie Dangoor who retired after serving as a chairman for over a decade. Carol Johnsen of Australia is the new secretary while Jason Broersma of Canada was re-elected as the treasurer.

Other members of the executive committee are Toke Aka (Nigeria), Karen Richards (Australia), Peter Thorpe (UK), Tony Leah (US), Douglas Tsang (Hong Kong) and Brett Smitheram (UK).
