SUKKUR: Senior Pakistan Peoples Party leader and former leader of the opposition in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah’s judicial remand was extended by another 14 days when he was produced before Accountability Court Judge Ameer Ali Mahesar upon expiry of his five-day judicial remand on Saturday.

Opposing further judicial remand, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) prosecutor informed the judge that the suspect in mega corruption case was not cooperating with investigators and, therefore, he be given in NAB custody on physical remand. The prosecutor maintained that during the earlier physical remand the suspect spent half the time in the National Institute for Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD), where he had been under treatment.

Rejecting NAB’s request, the judge granted a 14-day extension in Mr Shah’s judicial remand and ordered that he be produced in court on Nov 23.

Mr Shah was then transported back to the NICVD in an ambulance.

Senior PPP leaders Qamar Zaman Kaira, Nafisa Shah as well as Awais Shah and Farrukh Shah attended the hearing.
