APROPOS the letter ‘Number Plates’ (Nov 4). I would like to share my misery as well. The vehicle I am using was registered in December 2016 but the original number plates have not been issues as yet. As a result, I have been intercepted by traffic police quite often. Every time I face the same annoying questions pertaining to the original number plates. This results in unnecessary hassle and time delays.

I wonder why these traffic police personnel are not being updated about the status of issued and unissued official number plates. As a citizen I know which serial numbers are still pending with the Motor Vehicle Registration Department.

I would like to ask the relevant authority why after three years they are still unable to issue original number plates whereas the amount was charged upfront at the time of registration?
