K-IV water project

Published November 4, 2019

APROPOS the report (Oct 14) that the fate of the much-delayed K-IV bulk water project for Karachi hangs in the balance.

The project was initiated in 2008 but construction started in 2014. However, after spending Rs10 billion of public money, work was stopped owing to objections raised by politicians about its design and route.

The project has missed several deadlines while the cost continues to escalate with no completion date in sight. The prime minister should intervene to resolve the matter and expedite its completion so that the sufferings of Karachiites are alleviated somewhat.
