LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday disposed of as withdrawn a petition seeking production order of former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi facing trial in contract case of liquefied natural gas (LNG).
Advocate Nasir Chohan, a voter of Abbasi constituency in Lahore NA-124, had filed the petition.
Advocate Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, also a PML-N MPA, represented the petitioner-lawyer and argued that the people of Mr Abbasi’s constituency had been denied representation in the assembly. He said the NA speaker had not been issuing production orders of Mr Abbasi, denying the voters of NA-124 right to their representation in the assembly.
However, a two-judge bench observed that Mr Abbasi should file the petition himself. At this, the counsel sought permission to withdraw the petition and the bench allowed the same.
