KARACHI, Aug 7: The Independence Day will be celebrated in the newly established settlements of Hawkesbay and Taiser Town with the opening of four new schools. The Sindh governor will be specially requested for their inauguration.

A decision in this regard was taken at a meeting of the Lyari Expressway Rehabilitation project on Sunday under the chair of Project Director Shafiqur Rehman Paracha.

A detailed programme was chalked out to celebrate Independence Day celebrations in the schools and areas of the new settlements with great pomp and dignity. The celebrations would begin from Aug 8.

Groups of teachers and parents would be formed, which would go to each house in every basti and persuade parents of the children, who are not enrolled in schools, to get them admitted to area schools.

Special sanitation and tree plantation campaigns would also be launched in both the settlements. School children will take part in the plantation campaign.—APP
