PFA team attacked

BAHAWALNAGAR: A Punjab Food Authority (PFA) team was attacked during a raid at a milk factory in Mauza Laleka on Tuesday.

The PFA team, on the information of the special branch that some villagers were manufacturing thousands of litres of fake milk and supplying it to various collection outlets in surrounding localities, raided a compound in Mauza Laleka, owned by Muhammad Ameer.

The team sealed the factory and detained owner Ameer.

Food Safety Officer Sufyan Sohail told the police the PFA team recovered a mixing motor, 60kg dry milk powder, three drums of liquid mixed milk, two cartons of cooking oil and chemicals.

He added Ameer incited the women who had gathered around the compound and attacked the team. They got freed Ameer from the custody. He said the women attacked Assistant Food Safety Officer Nafisa Kiran and other female members of the team and forced them out of the compound after which the team called the police.

Ali Akbar killed his uncle Zafar Kamboh in Chak 301/HR in the Marot area.

Zafar and his nephew had a longstanding land dispute and on Tuesday they had a fight over it.

The Marot police handed over the body to the family after a postmortem.
