KARAK: The oil and gas exploration companies have approved funds for carrying out uplift projects under the corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative and by using the production bonus funds.

This was disclosed at a meeting chaired by deputy commissioner Shah Rukh Ali Khan here the other day. The meeting was attended by MNA Shahid Khan, MPAs Mian Nisar Gul and Malik Zafar Azam, regional coordinator OGDCL Mushfiq Hameed Paracha and representatives of oil and gas companies and administrative officers.

The heads of executing agencies presented their proposals about development work and the meeting earmarked funds for different projects with a consensus.

The deputy commissioner said the CSR funds of a company working in southern parts of Karak would be spent on provision of basic needs in far-off areas like Kurd Sharif, Showanki and adjoining localities.

He said funds had also been approved on need basis for other areas of the district. He said the problems being faced by the people would be resolved on priority as they were affected by the exploration activities.

QUOTA VIOLATED: The educated youths with physical disabilities have blasted the authorities over violation of the disability quota in the recruitment process in different government departments.

They alleged that majority of the people appointed under the disability quota were actually not disabled.

Talking to mediapersons, they alleged that a majority of these candidates had produced fake disability certificates in connivance with the officials to get appointed.

They demanded an impartial inquiry to pinpoint the black sheep responsible for violating the disability quota in jobs.

Meanwhile, the district education officer (female), Karak, suspended four female teachers over absence from duty.

She visited the government girls’ high school, Jarasi Banda, on Wednesday and found four teachers absent. She issued their suspension orders and directed them to report to the district education office.
