LAHORE: A fire broke out in Musafirkhana of the Mayo Hospital on Tuesday, creating a stampede-like situation.

No casualty was reported as the people immediately left the multi-storey building after they saw flames.

The blaze damaged the furniture and medical equipment besides belongings of the people staying on the upper floors of Musafirkhana. The Rescue 1122 teams controlled the fire after two hours or so.

A spokesperson for the Emergency Services said that initially the fire erupted on the premises of Musafirkhana but it spread to a portion of the indoor ward. The firefighters managed to contain it, preventing major loss to the medical equipment and furniture, he added.
