Three killed, 11 hurt in accident

GUJRANWALA, Aug 5: Three people, including two women, were killed while 11 others received serious injuries on Friday in an accident on the GT Road near Aimanabad.

A family of Narun Mandi was on its way to Shaheenabad by a wagon when it overturned after a speeding trailer hit it from the rear. Consequently, Salamat Ali (50), Seeman Bibi (40) and Azra Bibi (35) died instantly while 11 others sustained injuries. The injured — Razia Bibi, Safia Bibi, Namra Bibi, Azra Bashir, Nighat, Munaza, Roona, Zohran Bibi, Musarrat Bibi, Rahmat Ali and Amjad were rushed to the local DHQ Hospital in critical condition.

RESULTS: The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Gujranwala, will announce on Aug 20 the results of Intermediate (Part-I and Part-II) annual examinations, 2005.

This was stated by controller (examination) Dr Mumtaz Ahmad Awan in a press release issued here on Friday.

SELECTED: Around 76 doctors, including four specialists, have been selected for their appointment at the local DHQ Hospital.

DHQ medical superintendent Dr Nisar Ahmad Cheema pointed out that appointment letters would soon be issued by the Punjab health department.

He said that 41 male and 31 female doctors were selected on merit after their interviews. He said the recruitment of paramedical staff would be started during the current month.

He said that remaining doctors and paramedical staff would be required in the second phase.
