LARKANA, Aug 5: The People’s Party Parliamentarians has urged the Chief Election Commissioner to prepare a reference to disqualify the Sindh chief minister for violation of the code of conduct, because he was using circuit houses as election campaign centres for PML and allied party candidates.

Speaking here at a press conference here on Friday, the leader of the opposition in the Sindh Assembly, Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, Khalid Iqbal Memon, Muhammed Anwar Bhutto (MNAS’), Ayaz Soomro , Haji Munwar Ali Abbasi (MPAS’), Khursheed Junejo and Nazeer Bughio, the former district nazim and naib nazim, respectively, said that the Sindh chief minister had crossed all limits of decency by violating the rules but the CEC had, perhaps, shut his eyes.

They said that elections were being turned as ‘selection’, which had tarnished the image of the country for which they held the CEC solely responsible.

Yes, they said the CEC takes suo moto action to probe into the uncontested election of 35 nazims in Tharparkar district then what hinders him from taking notice of issuing warning to DROs’ and ROs’ by the chief minister of Sindh.

The Chief Justice of Pakistan should take suo moto notice of threatening the officers of the courts acting as DROs’, ROs’ by the Sindh chief minister, they said adding that soon a letter would be sent to the Chief Justice of Pakistan.

The relatives of ADP candidates were being threatened to ask them (the candidates) to retire in favour of the Khushhal Pakistan Panel or support the KPP, false cases were being instituted and harassment continued abound, they said.

‘Could we call it fair polls,’ the PPP leaders said where the ministers were roaming around in police escorts and campaigning for the KPP candidates, they questioned.
