KARACHI, Aug 5: Additional District and Session Judge South Karachi Syed Saeed Hasan on Friday granted bail to a journalist facing charges of allegedly publishing “hate-material”.

Abdul Latif Abu Shamil, an assistant editor of “Friday Special”, was arrested last month by police in a raid at his office.

Applicant’s counsel Junaid Farooqui argued that no case is made out against his client for publishing hate material, nor the police produced any material before the court. After hearing the case, the judge ordered the release on bail with surety of Rs.1,00,000.—PPI
