ISLAMABAD: The Quetta Chamber of Commerce and Industry (QCCI) on Wednesday demanded the government to come up with a clear cut policy on the trade of fruits and vegetables, especially apple and tomatoes, to promote and protect the economy of Balochistan.

During a meeting with Senate Chairman Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani, the 16-member QCCI delegation complained that they were facing difficulties in the export and import of their products.

The delegation informed Sanjrani about their problems related to trade.

They said traders were depositing billions of rupees in the national exchequer from the platform of the chamber and should be facilitated. The hurdles in business would affect the overall economic development of the country and would also have negative consequences for the progress of Balochistan, they added.

The senate chairman assured that traders’ issues would be taken up with the Federal Board of Revenue and other departments.

He said comprehensive and practicable policies were needed to promote business activities in Balochistan so that complaints of traders could be resolved.
