MUZAFFARABAD: Two civilians were injured in Azad Jammu and Kashmir in a fresh ceasefire violation by Indian troops from across the Line of Control on Wednesday.

“Indian troops resorted to mortar shelling in Chirikot sector at about 6pm, leaving a woman and her daughter injured in Seerhiyan village,” a police official told Dawn from the area by telephone at 9:30pm

He identified the victims as Parveen Akhtar and Saba Tariq. They had been hit by fragments of a mortar shell, he said. Chirikot sector is located in district Haveli.

The official said that the shelling was going on intermittently.
