CHAMAN, Aug 4: Afghan Club won their second match of the Pakistan Premier League, defeating Habib Bank (HBL) 3-1 on Thursday. The winners of the event will be the national champions and will earn the right to play in second AFC President’s Cup next year.

After beating PWD in the first match, Afghan Club were the first to settle down and made several dangerous inroads. Pakistan striker Mohammad Essa opened the scoring for the winners when he took advantage of defensive blunder.

On the stroke of halftime, Mohammad Sadiq consolidated Afghan Club position with a powerful shot. HBL restored parity in the 70th minute and dominated the last 15 minutes, but finally Afghan Club sealed the fate of the match through an Abdul Mannan’s 85th minute strike.—APP
