KARACHI: Renowned religious scholar Allama Shahenshah Hussain Naqvi met Prime Minister Imran Khan and lauded the PM’s recent speech at the United Nations, appreciating his efforts to apprise the world of Indian brutalities in occupied Kashmir, said a statement here on Thursday.

During a meeting with the premier at PM House, Allama Naqvi also hailed the government’s efforts for restoring supremacy of law and Constitution and hoped that PM Khan’s endeavours to fight Islamophobia in the West would bear fruit.

“Allama Naqvi appreciated the understanding of PM Imran Khan over the West’s approach [to] Islamophobia and expressed hope that he would be able to represent the Islamic world to raise a voice over violence against Muslims in different parts of the world,” said the statement.

The meeting, which was also attended by Minister for Maritime Affairs Ali Zaidi and Minister of State for Overseas Pakistanis Zulfi Bukhari, discussed several local and internal issues as well, including cases of missing persons.

Allama Naqvi also appreciated efforts of PM Khan for peace in the country and promoting culture of freedom of expression.
