Don Bosco and GCU in final

LAHORE, Aug 3: Government College University (GCU), Lahore and Don Bosco Club qualified for the final of the Lahore Division basketball championship at the Islamia College, Civil Lines courts on Wednesday. A fine contribution by Nauman of 14 points, Raja (10) and Hammad (10) steered Government College to a narrow 65-61 win over Brothers Club.

The winners led the first half 27-24. From Brothers Club, Sabir, the top-scorer of the match with 17 points, Munir (12), Umar Hayat (11) and Amjad (10) played well. Zamdan contributed 12 points to help Don Bosco Club earn a 55-45 win against YMCA Club.

The winners were 24-19 ahead in the first half. Yasir (10), Hasan and Anil with eight points each were the other major scorers. For the losing side, Dawood (nine), Shamyl (eight) and Majid (seven points) were the chief scorers.
