12 outlaws arrested

SHEIKHUPURA, Aug 3: The Muridke Sadar police claimed on Wednesday to have arrested 12 outlaws and seized weapons from them during an ‘encounter’ near Khori. However, four policemen were also injured. Police said DPO Syed Ibn-e-Husain along and his squad were going to Sou Moria where the IGP was scheduled to inaugurate the new post on Wednesday. Near Khori, the team intercepted three suspects riding a motorcycle without number plate. On which, they opened fire and called their dozens of accomplices as a result of which DPO squad in-charge ASI Mushtaq, Akram, Nasir and Akbar Abbas received critical injuries, the police said.

Following the information, DSP (headquarters) Syed Zahid Husain, Muridke DSP Ghazi Salahuddin and others reached the spot and besieged the area. During the shootout, the police arrested 12 outlaws and recovered weapons and vehicles from them. IGP Ziaul Hassan also reached the spot and announced cash award and commendation certificates for the team.
