LANDI KOTAL (Khyber Agency), Aug 3: Murad Shinwari, the son of famous Pashto poet Amir Hamza Khan Shinwari, has demanded that his father’s mausoleum in Landi Kotal be renovated. In an appeal to the governor, NWFP, Mr Shinwari lamented that the mausoleum was without a watchman and librarian.

He said that the former governor had promised that books and furniture would be provided for the library but the promise was yet to be fulfilled. He reminded government officials that the Rs3million Hamza Baba Complex had been without any drinking water ever since construction in 2004 and the Hamza Baba Literary Society had been unable to hold a Mushaira at the complex due to paucity of funds.

He demanded that the complex be taken into official supervision and funds be provided to observe his father’s anniversary in a befitting manner.

WARNING: A jirga of the Zakhakhel tribe on Wednesday decided that a Rs1 million fine would be imposed on those who tried to obstruct execution of development schemes in the remote Tirah valley.

The jirga, held at the Landi Kotal Jirga Hall, also decided that houses of such people would be demolished. Security would be provided to those who supervised development projects in the far-flung areas, the jirga decided. The Zakhakhel elders, headed by Malik Nadir Shah, announced their full cooperation to the political administration.

A tribal lashkar on Thursday last demolished the house of an outlaw Zewar Zakhakhel for his alleged involvement in the kidnapping of a government official and obstructing construction of road in his area.

Lineman electrocuted: A Wapda lineman was electrocuted here on Wednesday.
