GUJRANWALA, Aug 3: The PML Chattha group, led by Chaudhry Hamid Nasir Chattha, is likely to face a tough time in local bodies election in Wazirabad tehsil as its workers, including former MPA Chaudhry Shaukat Hayat Chattha and various ex-nazims and naib nazims, have joined the People’s Democratic Front.

Speaking at a news conference at the residence of PPP MPA Chaudhry Ijaz Ahmad here on Wednesday, Chaudhry Shaukat Hayat Chattha and ex-provincial minister Shah Nawaz Cheema claimed that the Chattha group had lost the support of the people owing to ‘one-man show’ regarding filing of nomination papers, ignoring the party’s old workers.

GCCI’s concern: The local chamber of commerce and industry has expressed its concern over the rising incidence of robberies in the city. At a meeting held here on Wednesday with GCCI president Asad Elahi in the chair, the participants said some unidentified dacoits took away a car from chamber ex-president Haji Murad Ali at gunpoint in Satellite Town when his family was on way to market for shopping.

They said if the government could not check robberies and lawlessness, the business community would not invest in the country. They demanded early arrest of the gangsters, besides recovery of the vehicle.
