Body of doctor’s daughter found

OKARA, Aug 2: The body of a girl who had fallen into an open manhole in Medical colony on Friday night, was recovered here on Tuesday. Reports said Tanzeeha (5), daughter of Dr Mian Iftikhar Ahmed, was playing in the street when she fell into the manhole.

On Tuesday afternoon, her funeral prayers were attended by Defence Minister Rao Sikander Iqbal, DCO Muhammad Aslam Kamboh, MPAs Mian Yawar Zaman, Muhammad Ashraf Khan Sohna, former MPA Muhammad Arif, PMA president Dr Muhammad Azam Khan and others.

Later, she was laid to rest in the Ghorey Shah graveyard.

After the funeral prayers, scores of people demanded that the district administration and the TMA should cover 60 per cent open manholes of the city within three days and take action against negligent officials.

ELECTROCUTED: A businessman, Islamuddin Ghori, 50, was electrocuted in Hujra Shah Muqeem here on Tuesday when he pushed the power button of the house water pump at his under-construction shop.

In another incident, a girl (18) committed suicide by taking poison here on Tuesday at Samadpura when her parents admonished her over some family issue. She died in DHQ hospital.

SHOT DEAD: Three alleged robbers shot dead a tax official and took away the toll amount here on Tuesday on Shergarh Road.

Reports said the dacoits riding a motorcycle, came at a toll post and took away the amount from Amin Bhatti at gunpoint. On raising an alarm, they shot dead Mr Bhatti.

Hujra Shah Muqeem police are investigating.
