HYDERABAD, Aug 2: The Chief Minister of Sindh, Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim, has said that he believes in good governance to ensure better delivery system for people of the province and warned that whosoever was found negligent would be taken to task.

He was presiding over a meeting held here on Tuesday at the circuit house to review the performance of HDA/WASA, Hyderabad, especially during the rain emergency.

He directed the officers concerned to make the system functional so that uninterrupted filtered water supply is ensured to the people and sewerage, specially rain water, is disposed of without delay.

He said that though the people of Hyderabad had faced these difficulties during the period of former nazims, this will not be tolerated in future.

He said that cleanliness was one of the main targets of his government and he will pay surprise visits to different cities, and those found negligent would be sent packing.

He said that the prime duty of the government and bureaucrats is to facilitate the common man without discrimination.

He asked HDA/WASA to make all arrangements in advance to ensure disposal of rain water and TMOs should also make arrangements for cleanliness in their respective areas.

The meeting was attended by MPA, Dr Irfan Gul Magsi, DCO Hyderabad Muhammad Hussain Syed, DG HDA Tahir Ahmed, MD WASA Shoukat Hayat Bhutto and all TMOs of District Hyderabad.

Meanwhile, the chief minister, while talking to a delegation of the people from Qasimabad led by ex-Nazim Qasimabad Noor Muhammad Shoro, assured that fool proof arrangements have been made to conduct the forthcoming local body elections in a free, fair and transparent manner.

He said that the government is determined to maintain its impartiality and law and order situation during the polling process so that the people of the province could exercise their right of choice by casting their vote without any fear.

The chief minister said that instructions had been issued for implementation of code of conduct formulated by the Election Commission of Pakistan in letter and in spirit.
