LANDI KOTAL: The administration of Khyber tribal district confirmed on Monday detection of at least 61 cases of dengue in the three subdivisions.

A statement issued from the Khyber House here said that out of the total 61 cases, 48 were reported from Bara subdivision, 12 from Jamrud and one from Landi Kotal so far.

It said that the district administration with the assistance of the local health authorities had constituted 30 teams comprising 52 lady health workers and 15 malaria supervisors to carry out an awareness campaign throughout the tribal district alongside detecting and instantly destroying dengue larva in areas from where the cases had been reported.

The statement said that the authorities were also distributing mosquito nets among the local residents along with conducting residual fumigation spray, provision of instant healthcare to the affected persons and free medication at all the three hospitals of Landi Kotal, Bara and Jamrud subdivisions where isolation wards had also been created for dengue patients.

The statement said that a door-to-door campaign was also underway to inform residents about safety measures and ways to detect dengue larva with effective methods to check and prevent the rapid spread of dengue virus to non-affected areas.
