PESHAWAR, Aug 1: Entrance tests for admission to the NWFP University of Engineering and Technology and the government medical colleges for the next academic year will be held on Aug 21 and Sept 25, respectively, in Peshawar and Abbottabad simultaneously.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the provincial Educational Testing and Evaluation Authority presided over by Governor Khalilur Rehman at Governor’s House on Monday, said an official statement. It was decided that in case of rain on the dates, the tests would be postponed for the following day and the results declared within 24 hours of the holding of the tests.

The meeting considered a proposal to conduct the test in Peshawar under the supervision of the Frontier Corps and to approach the army to help supervise the test in Abbottabad.

It was decided that a meeting of representatives of respective institutions should be convened before the tests. The meeting approved a proposal that the candidates would not be allowed to take the question papers out of the examination centres.

The meeting approved the budgetary estimates of the authority for the next year. The governor said the authority must exercise all its powers not only to ensure judicious conduct of the tests but also to facilitate the candidates.
