ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has issued arrest warrants for Omni Group’s director Abdul Ghani Majeed in connection with award of contracts for a solar power project allegedly to some preferred companies.

NAB has filed an application before the acting judge of the accountability court, Raja Jawad Abbas Hassan, and sought the court’s permission to investigate Mr Majeed.

Mr Majeed has been nominated as an accused in the case. He is already under arrest in the fake accounts case and is on the judicial remand at present. The bureau requested the court for physical custody of Mr Majeed to investigate the case. As per NAB’s application Mr Majeed is a co-accused with former president Asif Ali Zardari in the solar power project case.

Judge Hassan did not allow NAB to take Mr Majeed’s custody and kept the application pending. He, however, said that since the matter is not urgent in nature the bureau may take up this matter again with accountability Judge Mohammad Bashir who would resume office in the second week of September.

Further proceeding in this case has been adjourned till Sept 13.
