CHAKWAL: A woman and her son were killed while two other women of the family received critical injuries in a traffic accident near Bikhari Kalan village on Chakwal-Talagang Road on Sunday evening.

According to police and Rescue 1122 officials, a car was on its way towards Chakwal city. When it was passing by Bikhari Kalan village, it crashed into a trailer coming from the opposite direction. As a result, Amir Atta, 33, and his mother died on the spot while his wife and sister-in-law were injured. The injured were shifted to District Headquarters Hospital Chakwal from where both women were referred to Rawalpindi due to their serious condition. The victims belonged to Kalabagh.

“The driver of the trailer managed to escape from the scene. We are trying our best to trace him,” Investigation Officer Nazar Hussain told Dawn. He added that the trailer had been impounded.
