TAXILA: Police on Friday booked two people for allegedly fanning religious extremism on social media and took them into custody.

Potohar division SP Syed Ali told reporters that Taxila police had launched a crackdown on elements using social media to propagate extremist narrative and spreading hate speech through Facebook against different sects and made two arrests on Friday.

The suspects were identified as Aslam Sheikh and Yasir Abbas. The SP said that on a complaint head constable Shahid Khan of Taxila police registered a case against the suspects under Section 295-A and Section 11 of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act 2016 and started investigation into the matter.
