KARACHI, July 30: Federal Interior Minister Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao has said that visas of the foreigners studying in madressahs of the country will be cancelled after proper investigations. He was talking to newsmen after the passing out ceremony of the 27th Batch of the Pakistan Coast Guards, here on Saturday.

The minister said this step would not affect relations with other countries, as Pakistan had not inked any agreement with any country for such education. He said the madressahs functioning in the country should impart appropriate religious as well as other education to students and train them to become better citizens.

The interior minister said the law enforcing agencies after 9/11 had been checking and eliminating terrorism. He also referred to the press conference of President Musharraf recently addressed to the foreign media and his public speech in which he had strongly condemned extremism and incidents of terrorist attacks.

He said the action was continuing to stop provocative speeches in mosques, check the activities of the banned groups and organizations and others involved in proliferating hate materials.—APP
