FAISALABAD, July 30: The district police claimed on Saturday to have shot dead two alleged robbers in an encounter and recovered from their possession unlicensed weapons and booty at Chak 147-RB in Chak Jhumra police station precinct.

DPO Muhammad Amin Wains told journalists that three masked men snatched cash and valuables from some pedestrians in Chak Jhumra. The victims informed the area police, who combed the entire area. They stopped the three motorcyclists and asked them to surrender, but the latter opened fire and accelerated, he said.

The police chased the robbers and returned fire as a result of which two of the gangsters suffered wounds while their accomplice managed to escape. The DPO said the robbers succumbed to injuries. The police recovered illegal weapons, gold ornaments, cash and a motorcycle from the robbers.
