MUZAFFARGARH: A team of National Accountability raided district council office and took all record of development schemes into custody.

The team, led by NAB Multan Assistant Director Anam Khan, also visited Rohallanwali areas to inspect the related uplift projects. Chief officer district council Amir Saleem Bhatti confirmed that NAB checked the record of schemes during the period of council ex-chairman Umer Gopang.

A NAB official said they had received complaints about embezzlement as schemes were not executed. The team also inspected the main hall of district council which was built at the revised cost of Rs70m. He said substandard material was allegedly used in some projects.

Some district council staffers alleged that ex-MPA Amir Talal Gopang [of PML-N], cousin of ex-chairman Umer Gopang, was instrumental contracts. An official of district council alleged that Rs200m were allocated for Alipur Tehsil development schemes.

Amir Talal joined PTI and he is a member of national assembly. He could not be contacted despite repeated attempts.
