KARACHI, July 30: Cargo handling was steady at the port where a total tonnage of 48,654 tons comprising 27,778 tons of import and 20,876 tons of export cargo was handled during the last 24 hours, according to a PQA press release on Saturday. Berth occupancy meanwhile stood at 67 per cent as five ships, Maersk Alabama, Wester Moor, Bunga Centrawsing, Blue Dream and Tern, were busy in loading and unloading containers, pal oil, wheat and machinery.

Sailings were active as Blue Dream, Wester Moor, Maersk Alabama and Bunga Centrawsing left the port. Three ships, Chem Star Seven, Maersk Alaska, LIssy Schulte, carrying containers and chemicals were awaiting their berthing turn at the outer anchorage.
