LODHRAN: Seven police officials were booked for alleged embezzlement and ‘faulty’ investigation of cases here on Tuesday.

According to police, a station house officer, three sub-inspectors and as many assistant sub-inspectors were found guilty of embezzlement, negligence and faulty investigation at Lodhran police station.

A case has been registered against them.

SI Amir Nadeem was found guilty of malpractices in 46 cases, SIs Shaukat Ali in 16 cases, Abid Hussain (13), Fraz Khan (12), ASIs Salahuddin (10), Zafar Iqbal (2) and Shoaib Saeed (19).

District Police Officer Malik Jameel Zafar told this correspondent that out of 118 cases challan of 110 had been submitted to the court.

SUSPENDED: The district police officer has suspended an ASI and two constables for alleged torture of a man.

A video that went viral on social media showed a policeman torturing a man. After watching the clip, the DPO suspended from service ASI Nisar and two constables. A police spokesperson said SP (investigation) Syed Muhammad Abbas is investigating the matter.
